Margate Swimming Club recently held it's 26th Open Gala at Hartsdown Leisure Centre, welcoming competing clubs from all over Kent. It was an especially poignant day for club members, who were determined to do well to celebrate the memory of Head Coach, Terry Rossiter, who had lost his brave and courageous battle with cancer only days before. Terry was always extremely proud of his swimmers and the children excelled by producing 76 personal best times during the course of the day, a huge tribute to his many years of dedication and hard work. Despite competition from clubs such as Beckenham and Black Lion, 17 swimmers from Margate collected 41 medals between them. Charlie Gambrill produced three 1st place finishes, with Chelsea Jarman taking two 1sts and two 2nds. Other medal winners were Megan Lane 1st,3rd, Ciaran Claris 2nd,2nd,3rd,6th, Chloe Gambrill 2nd,3rd,4th, Darryl Scott 2nd,6th, Ruby Watson 3rd,3rd,3rd,4th, Charlie Eshelby 3rd,3rd,4th,5th, Aaron Laxton 3rd,3rd,3rd, Francesca Bedingfield 3rd,3rd, Ellen Berry McIntosh 5th,5th, Hannah Denny 5th,6th, Ethan Bexley 5th,6th, Bowen Goldhawk 2nd, Charlie Pittock 3rd, Rhiannon Goldhawk 5th and Jack Baker 6th.
